Brad Alford

Brad Alford is a criminal defence lawyer and associate at Friedman Mansour LLP.

Before joining Friedman Mansour, Brad articled with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice as a judicial law clerk, working closely with the judiciary to resolve complex legal issues. Brad frequently assisted judges with serious criminal files, including murders, robberies, assaults, DUI’s, and drug charges. From that experience, Brad brings both a formidable talent for legal research and a unique understanding of how judges approach cases, and he uses these tools creatively to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Brad graduated from the Queen’s University Faculty of Law in 2021, winning multiple course prizes and receiving Dean’s List recognition. Prior to law school, Brad obtained his bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from Carleton University, graduating with Honours and High Distinction.

Brad pursued practical opportunities beyond the classroom and was an active advocate throughout law school. He was a student caseworker with the Queen’s Prison Law Clinic, where he helped his clients at Collins Bay Institution navigate disciplinary court charges and prepare for parole hearings. He represented Queen’s University at the 2021 Gale Cup criminal law moot and advocated before a panel of Canadian judges for an acquittal to be upheld. He was also a member of the Queen’s Law Journal Editorial Board as a Co-Managing Editor of Submissions.

Brad is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Criminal Lawyers’ Association, and the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa. Brad was called to the Ontario bar in 2022.

Our 3-Step Process

You come first at every move — and are kept informed of progress from our first meeting until the conclusion of your case. This is our three-step process:

Step 1

People at table with hands

We Listen to You

What have you been charged with? Why? What are the exact circumstances of your arrest and what has happened since? From here we can decide how we can assist in your case.

Step 2

People writing on paper

We Strategize with You

Once we understand the details of your case, we will discuss the best strategy for your defence — whether this is to push for case dismissal, acquittal at a trial, or plea bargaining.

Step 3

People shaking hands
